Pay Rate:

The pay rate for this job is $31 - $32 / hour*

What you'll be doing as a Journeyman Machine Repair Worker:

• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain a wide range of production machinery and equipment
• Perform both emergency repairs and routine preventative maintenance
• Conduct routine maintenance and repair of facilities, including but not limited to plumbing, carpentry, and basic building upkeep
• Utilize mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills to diagnose and repair equipment issues
• Diagnose problems, repair or replace parts, and test equipment to ensure proper functioning
• Perform necessary adjustments to equipment to optimize performance
• Execute regular preventative maintenance on production machines, equipment, and plant facilities, following established schedules and procedures
• Use tools and machines to fabricate parts or repair equipment as required
• Read and interpret blueprints, equipment manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and repairs
• Identify faulty manufacturing processes or defective materials and communicate issues to operations management in a timely and clear manner
• Maintain and ensure compliance with safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out procedures
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
• Complete required documentation for work orders, maintenance records, and replacement part orders
• Ensure all data collection requirements are met
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, based on operational needs

Job requirements:

• Ability to diagnose and repair a variety of production equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Proficiency in operating and interpreting readings from precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
• Strong knowledge and experience with lathes, mills, and grinding machinery
• A high level of precision and attention to detail is necessary, as errors in work could lead to safety hazards or costly repairs
• Ability to safely operate machine tools and hand tools common to the trade
• Must be capable of safely performing high-precision tasks
• Ability to provide and maintain a personal toolbox with necessary tools for the role
• Tooling reimbursement is provided with an annual limit
• Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or an equivalent eight-year training program recognized by the skilled trades committee
• Strong understanding of precision measuring and gauging tools
• Exceptional attention to detail and precision, with the ability to minimize risk of damage during operations
• Commitment to safety and quality in all aspects of work
• Background check and drug screening required
