Pay Rate:

The pay rate for this job is $21.30 - $21.30 / hour*

What you'll be doing as an Institutional Cook:

• Prepare and cook meals in a high-volume healthcare kitchen environment.
• Follow standardized recipes, production sheets, and dietary guidelines.
• Ensure food is prepared, portioned, and served according to quality and safety standards.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
• Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assist with meal preparation for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Monitor food temperatures and maintain accurate logs.
• Keep workstations clean and organized throughout the shift.
• Work collaboratively with dietary staff, supervisors, and healthcare team members

Job requirements:

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment with PeopleReady
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a cook in a hospital, healthcare facility, nursing home, university dining hall, or other high-volume institutional kitchen.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Experience preparing meals in large quantities and following standardized recipes.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
• ServSafe certification preferred but not required.
• Fast-food-only experience is not preferred.
• Experience with therapeutic, modified, or special dietary meals is a plus
• Background check and drug test required
