Job Description
As a Carpenter with PeopleReady Skilled Trades, you'll support our contractors on upcoming commercial and residential projects located in Nashville, TN and surrounding areas. Note: The hourly rate for this position is $22 - $27 / hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law. Responsibilities:
- Construct and install wood framing structures, including walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs for residential and commercial buildings, adhering to project specifications and local building codes
- Read and interpret architectural blueprints, structural drawings, and building codes to determine layout and material requirements
- Work closely with project managers and engineers to clarify design specifications and resolve any discrepancies
- Select, measure, and cut materials (lumber, plywood, metal studs, etc.) to precise specifications
- Build and install wooden frameworks using measurements, blueprints, and drawings as references
- Lay out and install concrete forms, anchor bolts, and base plates for framing structures
- Install and secure floor joists, wall studs, rafters, and roof trusses with precision and efficiency
- Ensure all framing elements are square, plumb, and level
- Assist in the installation of structural reinforcements where necessary to support building loads
- Frame out door and window openings, install headers, and ensure proper alignment for installation
- Work effectively with other trades, including electricians, plumbers, and masonry workers, to ensure seamless project progress
- Adhere to all OSHA safety standards and local construction regulations to ensure a safe working environment
- Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and fall protection equipment
Qualifications:
- Proven ability to construct all aspects of wood framing and structural assemblies
- In-depth knowledge of carpentry techniques, blueprint reading, and material selection
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, and assemble materials according to precise specifications
- Competence in calculating load-bearing requirements and dimensions for structural element
- Familiarity with framing tools and equipment, including saws, drills, levels, and lasers
- Strong understanding of building codes, structural integrity, and safety standards
